Reconnect || Neil & David

Neil gently rolled away from his computer desk with a smile on his face. The only person who he hadn’t made a connection with, was finally ready to aid him with his mission. The last couple of days had been bone chilling for Neil. The accident had taken a lot from him but he managed to carry on with a smile. He had faith and hope that he would someday get better, especially with all the hard work in therapy.

He had just got back from therapy and was dying for a smoke. Inviting David seemed like the right thing to do and he needed human contact to keep his spirits high. It had always been very easy for Neil to slip into a state of depression because of the fact he always wore his heart on his sleeve.

The young disabled one made his way down the hall of his dormitory to find the elevator mentioned by David. As he made a right when he reached the end, there it was. The elevator that the other boy had mentioned wasn’t a figment of imagination. It worried Neil that he had been here and forgotten about it…better yet that it was wiped from his memory when he most needed it. Neil quickly rolled in eager to meet up with David, he had so much to ask the other boy.

The elevator finally reached the main floor and Neil departed with haste. He wheeled out as if on a mission. When he reached the door, a sense of ease fell over him. He turned his every way to spot the young David somehow. There he was embracing a rather familiar looking fountain. As he rolled over he started for his pack of cigs. “hey, he yelled to the other boy”

“Put on your brave face,” David whispered to himself as he stared as is own reflection in the water of the fountain, which had thawed earlier during the day. They were still in the dead of winter, but the morning had been unusually warm and the afternoon had only seen a drop in the temperature of no more than two degrees. Regardless, David was dressed in a coat, hands clad in black leather, feet resting in black boots, and yet he still felt naked in the courtyard; he hated it. It was here that it had all started for them both, the toxic delusion they had called love, a living nightmare he had walked away from swearing never to return.

And he didn’t want to return. He had just started to feel happy once more, and he had found someone else to feel happy with. He didn’t know exactly what his feelings toward Reece were, mostly because he was afraid of rushing into something that would end up hurting him yet again, but he knew that he wanted the older boy by his side, and that being with him made him feel better. It had been easier to discover what he’d felt for Neil, but it also hurt him like only a handful of things had over the course of his so far fifteen-year-long existence.

“I won’t go back to that,” he muttered, “I won’t—”

Hey.

Neil’s voice instantly pulled him from his thoughts. He was afraid to turn, but he did so reflexively, and what he saw them almost broke his heart. Neil was smiling at him. He looked genuinely happy and that should have been enough to make David feel better if not for the fact that he was wheeling himself to him. It shouldn’t have hit him so hard; Ollie had warmed him that he was like this. But hearing about it and having to see it were completely different things, and this last one was killing him inside. He wanted to cry, he wanted to scream, but in the end he only said, “hello,” and faked a smile for his ex-boyfriend, not knowing what else he could do.

'Hello' That was it! As Neil rode over to David, the pain of remembrance came over him. It was the smile that David faked so well that sent Neil’s mind into overdrive. How could this be? He hadn’t been able to remember a thing about this place since the accident but being here seeing David’s famous false smile and quivering hello did something to him. He instantly stopped in his tracks. A blank expression fell on his face and he avoided the eyes he once beheld - avoiding the lips he once embraced.

"David…" he managed to say without his heart completely breaking. "I…I remember; I broke your heart and you broke mine" he said finally breaking out into a sob that would wrench the hearts of anyone around him.

The Chosen||Neil & David

Neil sat quietly at his desk for a few minutes. It took him a while to notice that he’d been crying. The decision he had made was the most difficult one he had ever made. He had searched inside himself for days. The day he told them both of his feelings had been the worst day of his life until today. As he wiped the tears from his face, he reflected on the decision itself. Had he made the right one? Deep in his heart he knew what made him happiest. This whole ordeal made Neil realize how fragile David was. Neil could never bring himself to further the suffering of anyone or thing. Just a few moments ago he had brought joy to one and pain to the other. Neil glanced at the IM sen form David and began to get dressed. He had locked himself in his room for two days to make up his mind and had neglected to actually put on clothes. As he made his way to the place where he and David had their first date, he rambled to himself words of encouragement but all he could think of was questions that plagued him. What would it be like to see David after what happened? Would he still feel the same as he did before? Would they work out? Why had he chose David? These questions were very dangerous in his eyes, so he locked them away in his head.

Neil had finally reached the courtyard; the air was cold and smelled like stale cigarettes. The sky was full in permanence and not a star in sight. All he could see, as he looked up, was the moon in all its glory. He imagined being bathed in the rays of moonlight; this seemed to offer him some comfort. As he waited for David to arrive, he stood dead center in the courtyard with his arms stretched upwards and slowly twirling around.

1st Date||Neil & David

David’s eyes ran frantically over and over through the words scribbled down on the piece of paper, all the while taking in mouthfuls of air in a vain attempt to keep himself calmed. Judging by the way his hand started trembling as he read the note for what must have been the umpteenth time in a handful of minutes, it was obviously not working. It was strange, this feeling; about as unfamiliar as this place, this school in the middle of nowhere that he was still trying to make himself acquainted with. And it was scary as well. He wasn’t used to feeling this vulnerable, this anxious over somebody else.

Just a week earlier he might have walked away from it, but not anymore. Finally mustering up the will to set the note down on his bed, David ran straight to his closet and haphazardly stripped before throwing on a fresh set of clothes: a navy button-down with the sleeves rolled up, a pair of black jeans, and classic-red chucks to offset them. Once dressed, he headed over to the bathroom and gave himself a cursory glance on the bathroom mirror before brushing his teeth, and spraying some cologne on his bare neck. And then he was on his way, leaving his room with one last sigh and a mouthed prayer.

The walk down to the courtyard was a short one, but it might as well have lasted an hour as far as David was concerned. Along the way he stopped several times, thinking of turning back, thinking that perhaps this was all one big prank, some kind of hazing ritual from the boys of this place. But nonetheless he plodded on, and when he reached the courtyard he was glad that he had, for what he saw blasted all the misgivings from his mind.

“T—this… this is… Wow…” His jaw dropped. The entire courtyard was shouldered in lights, a single table set at the center, a single rose resting ontop of it. When his eyes drifted toward Neil, all David could do was to stammer a “Hi”. For a second he tried to rein in the thousand-watt smile spreading accross his features, before deciding that it didn’t matter. Neil deserved that smile

Neil was pleased with the reaction he received. All he wanted to do was please David.”Hey there, you look very nice” said Neil nervously. David’s smile had been Neil’s favorite feature; David’s mouth always drew attention to itself. Neil, gradually, moved towards David. “I’m glad you chose to come tonight…I wasn’t sure if you were going to show up or not” said Neil as his voice cracked. Neil then locked his hands with David’s “Follow me, this way…”. He ushered the both of them to the table he had prepared. On the table there sat a rose and a silver platter covered. He wanted to surprise David with his favorite meal. Neil searched David’s face for a sign of anything; was David happy so far, what would he think of the surprise and what did he think of Neil. THis type of thinking was dangerous for Neil because of his OCD. He could think himself into a fit and freak out. He decided to calm his nerves and just go with the flow. “I hope you like sweets” said Neil revealing what was on the platter. There, piled high, were a dozen of cupcakes.

1st Date||Neil & David

Neil was glad when he arrived back to Britin Home For Boys. He was up all night wrecked with anticipation. He remember when all he had was a crush. David had crept into his heart slowly but surely. All Neil knew was that David made him feel great inside. Neil dropped his bags off to his room. He couldn’t wait to see David and tell him how the trip went and how his brother was doing. Neil quickly dressed himself in the outfit that took him three days to pick out. He wanted everything to be perfect. Neil mad his way downstairs to the sophomore floor and slipped a note under David’s door. The note said “David, my heart, meet me in the courtyard when your ready…”. Neil quickly ran to his final destination. He had lit up the courtyard with dozens of lights and placed a rose in the center of the table that was strategically placed in the center of the courtyard. The fountain was also surrounded in lights and candles. He wondered what David would think and patiently awaited his arrival.

Tourist||Neil & Oliver

Neil found himself looking forward to showing someone around. He was kind of nervous and had no idea what to wear. Finally, he decided to just go with a graphic tee and slim jeans. He made his way to Oliver’s room. Neil took a deep breath and then knocked on the door. He wiped the sweat from his palms as he waited. Would Oliver be just as nervous?

Dig In||Neil & Adrian

Neil was taken back by Adrians request. Usually he had to do everything alone. He wondered if Adrian saw his cry for help masked by his anger. Adrian had always been kind and Neil appreciated that. “You really want to come watch me stuff my face?” asked Neil inquisitively. His plans to throw himself a pity party would be kind of ruined but he liked the idea of having company.

another love song.: Two of a Kind || Neil & Riley

neil-ahn:

Seeing Riley’s smile had become infectious. Neil found himself smiling as well. He was overjoyed to find out that Riley was a libra as well. “Yeah it is and yes I am”. Neil thought Riley was adorable and endearing. He reminded Neil of times not to long ago. Their personalities just…

Neil had lost a bit of his breath. He felt reassured that he impressed Riley with his moves when Riley told him he was Phenomenal. Contemporary dance was his specialty. Neil grabbed his Ipod from the I home and moved closer to Riley. He then took off his sweaty tank top and begin to dab the sweat from his body. Neil was intrigued to see how talented Riley was at his craft. He wondered if Riley would ever show him. Neil took a couple of more of deep breaths and begin to say what was on his mind ”You really think I was good…well I’d be more than happy to show you a thing or two”. He could tell Riley was fighting the urge to blush, so he brought it to his attention. “look I know we just met, but I feel connected to you in a way”. “I know this may sound a bit…forward but I would like to spend more time with you”. “we can continue to be friends…but I want you to know that I’m interested into where this leads” “what do you think”.
